Directed by Edward Zwick, the film stars Tobey Maguire as the American chess phenom and Liev Schreiber as his Soviet archrival Boris Spassky.

Boardwalk Empire star Michael Stuhlbarg has united the Bobby Fischer chess drama Pawn Sacrifice.

Gail Katz Productions and Maguire's Material Pictures are producing Pawn Sacrifice, which began filming this week in Montreal. Production happening in youthful October in Reykjavik, Iceland. The 41-day jet is scheduled to wrap in Los Angeles on Dec. 11.

Set next to the height of the Cold War, the film archives Fischer and Spassky's so-called "Match of the Century," which was a battle of superpowers, complete with following intrigue and psychological combat – with the total globe watching.

Stuhlbarg, who joins Peter Sarsgaard in a behind role, will perform Fischer's advisor and attorney at some point in his mound to fame and propose representing the globe championship.Stephen Knight (Eastern Promises) wrote the libretto. The film is being financed by MICA Entertainment. Gail Katz (The Perfect Storm), Maguire and Zwick are producing. Stuhlbarg, who appeared with Sarsgaard in Woody Allen's Blue Jasmine, is repped by ICM and Viking Entertainment.
