Under the warm July sun, friends, family and supporters
gathered at the Bartow County Frank Moore Administration and Judicial Center
Tuesday evening to have an announcement from Bruce Thompson about his intends
to run for Georgia’s State Senate District 14.
Thompson, a Cartersville company owner, made his
announcement from your courthouse steps because he begins an extended campaign
before the 2014 election to exchange State Sen. Barry Loudermilk, R-Cassville,
who will be vacating the seat hoping winning the congressional election for
Georgia’s 11th District currently held by U.S. Rep. Phil Gingrey, R-Marietta.
Gingrey is going to be running for the Senate seat being vacated by the
retirement of U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga.
Introducing Thompson Tuesday was LakePoint Sporting
Community & Town Center partner and veteran State Rep. Earl Ehrhart,
R-Powder Springs.
“It’s
my honor right now to introduce a person I’ve arrived at know over the past a
couple of years, almost 36 months, working up here,” Ehrhart said. ”He located me and asked some tips I looked at a
fresh adventure for Bruce Thompson and in that adventure, he wanted to know
what I thought of him like a Georgia Senator.
“That
didn’t take hardly any time whatsoever to gauge. What I’ve come to learn about Bruce Thompson is that he is amongst the hardest-working individuals I am
aware. His basic makeup is often a man of faith. All of you know the potency of
his faith, his persistence for our Lord, the clear path that he follows. Everything
performing, he pleases because context.”
Thompson spoke to supporters Tuesday about any excuses for
conservative leadership and emphasized characteristics of faith, family and
community service while he makes a bid to fill the vacant seat in the Senate.
